ABOUT GARLIC IN SOUTH AFRICA
Varieties commonly available in South Africa belong to old materials probably brought into the country from Northern Africa, and they might easily have been multiplied for over 100 years.
They tend to have numerous smaller cloves and the bulb shows an elongated shape. Newer cultivars though have less, larger cloves and a rounder and flatter bulb.
